I am excited to have found a highly respected supplier (Jinyuxuan) in China that is willing to ship high grade Pu-erh to the U.S. and am pleased to be offering this premium Pu-erh called Palace Pu-erh (Gongting Pu-erh, literally "Royal Court Pu-erh").
As the name suggests, this is the type of Pu-erh that was served to high ranking officials in the palaces of China. The Palace Pu-erh has been aged 8 years and is suitable for storing and aging further. As it is very high quality it is actually superior to teas that have been aged twice as long.
This is an authentic premium aged Pu-erh tea that has an abundance of desirable tea buds. The Palace Pu-erh has a rich, smooth and sweet taste. It is a loose Pu-erh rather than a compressed cake. See below for brewing instructions.
The Palace Pu-erh comes in 50 gram packages.
Unfortunately we no longer have the Palace Pu-erh tea available. This tea is in extremely high demand in China, which has increased our costs and dramatically decreased the availability. The supplier we buy from in Kunming China recently sold out of their entire stock (warehouse) of Pu-erh tea and has not been able to rebuild their inventory yet.
Brewing Palace Pu-erh TeaFor brewing Palace Pu-erh, take 5 grams (approximately two teaspoons) of the loose tea and place in a teapot or gaiwan. Wake up the tea by pouring 4-6 ounces of boiling water over it and letting it sit for 15-30 seconds. Pour off the rinse water. Smell the Pu-erh tea and enjoy it before adding more water. Add 8 ounces of boiling or just boiled (do not let the water simmer or over-boil) to the teapot and infuse for 10 seconds. Pour off into a serving vessel or directly into your teacups. This can be repeated for 3-7 additional rounds with the same tea. |
